I purchased one DD from the SBI Sodepur branch (SBIN0001796) for Rs.6300.00 on 20.7.22. The DD was NOT DELIVERED to the payee. However, when I requested the purchasing branch with an application along with the original DD and counterfoil of the receipt, to cancel the DD and refund the amount to my account, after deducting the cancellation charges. The concerned SBI counter service manager refused to do the same and advised me to get the consent of the payee on the DD first and then submit the application for further action at his end. Whether the rule has been changed in SBI for DD cancellation (for both delivered or not delivered to payee) to obtain the consent of the payee for cancellation?
